Found from Southern Turkey through to Lebanon and Cypress, Fritillaria acmopetala is a varied species with a number of sub species including F. acmopetala ssp. wendelboi.
The species itself has olive green flowers with muted maroon markings, and even these vary depending on origin. F. acmopetala ssp. wendelboi differs in a number of ways, shorter wider leaves and a squared flower.
The petals are slightly recurved, with the same maroon marking revealed on the inside lips. Tall growing to 15 ", although variable.
