Without doubt the best known cypress tree is the Leyland Cypress tree, widely used in many zones. However cypress trees are available in a number of species suited to Landscaping, Hedging, Revegetation and commercial lumber production.
One example is Taxodium distichum known as the Southern Cypress, White Cypress and Swamp Cypress. Also known as the Bald Cypress as it is deciduous. An excellent plant for wet areas.
Of a totally different nature is the Italian Cypress, (Cupressus sempervirens) a tall columnar species that is fast growing.
You could also look for the False Cypress, or ‘Hinoki’ False Cypress ‘Filicoides’ Chamaecyparis obtusa smaller growing and a useful tree the garden or containers.
