If you live in Tropical or Sub tropical zone then Heleconias especially the big bold Lobster Claw, Heliconia Rostrata (the hanging lobster claw) and Heliconia wagneriana (upright lobster claw) varieties are truly one of natures miracles. The large flowers work well in the garden and are loved by those in the cut flower industry
And for those of us not living in tropical areas, yes you can grow them in containers in a warm sheltered position.
