Another plant that is hardy in dry conditions with attractive fragrant green foliage is Caryopteris x clandonensis. Reaching around .7m - 1m depending on conditions, also known as 'bluebeard' and the 'blue mist shrub ' with masses of lovely deep blue flowers in autumn. Requires very little care other than cutting right back in late autumn or early spring. Caryopteris x clandonensis is attractive to bees and birds when in flower. Look for variegated forms such as Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Summer Sorbet' withwonderful green and gold foliage. |

Caryopteris divaricata 'Snow Fairy' has creamy white flowers while Caryopteris 'Sunshine Blue' has nice blue flowers. Caryopteris are also known as 'Blue spirea' or 'Blue mist'. |
