Often when we think if hedge plants we think of a Privet Hedge, a Cypruss Hedge or a low growing Buxus or 'Box'hedge however lots of alternatives exist, we look at some different hedge plants. Growth rate will depend on climate, soil and conditions, so consult a local nursery for expert advice.

Will grow to 1-3m, prickly and dense
Pittosporum tenufolium
Will grow to 3-4m. Also Pittosporum eugenioides and Pittosporum crassifolium
Abelia grandiflora
Will grow to 2-3m, flowering evergreen hedge.
Choisya ternata - Mexican orange blossom
Will grow 2-3m flowering, evergreen hedge.
Eucryphia x nymansensis
'Will grow 2-4m,flowering, evergreen hedge.
Hebe hedge.
Low growing 1-3m. Flowering, evergreen hedge.
Ilex aquifolium
Will grow
2-5m, easily clipped.
Buxus sempervirens - box hedge
Will grow 0.4 - 5m and is shade tolerant.
Lavandula angustifolia - English lavender
Will grow 0.4-1m flowering and scented.
Santolina chamaecyparis - cotton lavender.
Low growing, scented, drought tolerant.
