Peonies are not a difficult plant to grow if you provide the favorable conditions, in fact given the right environment they are long lived.
Peonies prefer a ph of around 6.5 and require at least 6 hours of sun to flower properly. So once the soil and planting position is prepared by digging in some well rotted compost and manure you will be ready to plant.
If you have just purchased peony tubers you will notice the new growing points or 'eyes' these need to be around 2 inches below the surface of the soil, to deep and they will struggle to produce flowers, to shallow and they may dry out and burn.
Peonies do not like frost, especially after they have started to shoot, so provide some protection. Remember to feed your peonies during the growing period, a slow release fertilizer works well.
